May 28, 2017 – 22 Weeks
Baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he’s even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises still lack pigment. If we could see inside my womb, we would be able to spot the fine hair that covers his body and the the wrinkles on his skin, which he’ll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas – essential for the production of some important hormones – is developing steadily.
The baby bump continues to grow and my clients and parents continue to talk about this growing belly. I saw a client the other day for another therapist who told me very seriously, “You like like your pregnant.” I thought kids were honest before, but now they really crack me up. I had another kiddo around 5 who asked me if I was pregnant. When I asked him why he thought that he stared at my tummy and got nervous to tell me the truth (haha). The rest of the people/kids just stare at me without comment.
We took a nice break at the beach this weekend. It was nice to take naps in the sand and swim in the water to cool off. I even got a maternity swim suit to cover this “bump”. I’ve been feeling well and still able to do most things like bending over, carrying laundry baskets up the stairs, etc, but I do notice it getting more difficult. Baby is busy kicking still which is nice reassurance that all is still going well in there. We won’t see the doctor again for a few more weeks.
