May 12, 2017 – 20 Weeks
Baby is growing larger and stronger, measuring over 6 inches from crown to rump. Baby’s eyelids have been fused shut up until now, but around this week he may be opening them! (Not that there’s a ton to see just yet.) Baby is swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He’s also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion.
We are at the halfway mark!! Baby is making more movements and I have started to feel him wiggling around. We heard his heart beat again on Friday. The doctor said the “whooshing” sound we heard at that time was him moving around. He has a lot of room in there still so he’s enjoying stretching and swimming.
I had my first “Mother’s Day”. Andre was sweet and made a card from “the bump”. He also got me a pregnancy pillow to help with sleeping **update on the Snoogle pillow: it has definitely made a huge difference for back pain and getting sleep, I would definitely recommend investing in one of these!** A few cards from others came as well. We have been incredibly spoiled since the pregnancy with sweet gifts and gestures. Now, items from our baby registry have started to trickle in. It’s such a fun, exciting time at the Lama household! We need to get our crib still so we can start really working on the nursery. I’m looking forward to some “nesting”.
Here are some highlights from this week.
20 Week Update
Mother’s Day dinner with the family
May 5, 2017 – 19 Weeks
Baby is as big as an heirloom tomato this week, and he’s doing great! His arms and legs are now much more proportionate to the rest of his body, and he’s looking more and more like the baby we’ll meet in 20 weeks or so. Neurons are now connected between baby’s muscles and her brain. As a result, he’s far nimbler, and able to move better than ever.
We had another appointment today and a level 2 sonogram. We saw baby up close and personal. We saw his spine, heart (all four chambers), 10 fingers and 10 toes, his brain, and much more! He is weighing in at 10 ounces. He was moving like crazy. When we started the sonogram, he was breach and by the end, he was sideways. I have not felt him move yet, but hoping to feel this little guy soon.
Momma is feeling great. I finally made it to buy some maternity clothes! I was able to go to work super comfortable this week. The maternity pants seem to make me look more pregnant than ever (or maybe just because I am bigger). Either way, I can get used to wearing button and zipper free pants! I found some great pants at Motherhood Maternity on sale. They fit so well that I got them in three colors! They are the Secret Fit Belly Skinny Ankle and less than $20/pair.
We will be heading to Indiana in a month for a good friend’s wedding. Mom is having a baby shower for us then! We can’t wait to see family and good friends while celebrating baby Lama. Hopefully we will get to see some of you! Here are some photos from today:
