6/30/2017 – 27 Weeks
This week, baby weighs almost 2 pounds (about the size of a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended. He’s sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, baby’s brain is very active now. Tiny rhythmic movements are probably the baby’s hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments.
We got to see baby again this week! Unfortunately, he wasn’t cooperative so the 4D was unable to get his face. Everything is looking good though and he continues to grow. He is currently in the 70th percentile.
He got to hear fireworks this week for the Fourth of July! The auditory development for the sense of hearing still continues to progress as more network of nerves in the ears mature. He can hear sounds but these sounds are muffled by the creamy coating that is covering the ears. But he is still able to recognize voices and sounds. He woke up a little bit towards the end of the firework show after hearing the loud, muffled booming sounds.
